STEP 9
Now create a new layer at the top of the layer panel by pressing ctrl+shift+N/cmd+shift+N. Select rectangular marquee tool from the left panel. I have written a whole tutorial on Marquee Tools and you should check that tutorial out if you are a beginner.
Now draw a rectangle across the corner as shown below.
