Now I am going to add more details to his beard. First press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E/Cmd+Opt+Shift+E. Now go to Filter>Other>High Pass. Change the radius so that your image should somewhat look like the below one. Press OK.

Change the blend mode to Vivid Light.
