How to Remove Scratches in Photos in App for Free

Are you unhappy with the scratches in your old photo? Do you want to remove the creases in your photo for free?

Worry no more. I’m here for you. I’m going to show you how can you remove scratches in your photo in an app for free. Before I show it to you, let me show you what are you going to get today.

How to Keep Scratches Away from Photos?

I’ve got eight easy ideas to make sure your photos stay scratch-free:

  1. Proper Storage: Get yourself some acid-free photo albums or storage boxes. These materials won’t break down over time and will keep your photos safe. Remember not to stuff your albums too full, though. Give each photo some breathing room.
  2. Archival Sleeves: These clear sleeves are like bodyguards for your photos. They’re made of acid-free stuff and shield your pictures from dust, fingerprints, and, of course, scratches. Just slip your photos into these sleeves before tucking them away.
  3. Handle Creases: If you already have some scratches, don’t stress. You can often fix them or make them less noticeable. Lay your creased photo flat, cover it with a clean cloth, and gently press it with a warm (not hot!) iron. Use the lowest heat setting and avoid ironing directly on the picture. For more severe creases, check out this tutorial for help.
  4. Ideal Storage Conditions: Keep your photos in a cool, dry spot. High humidity and extreme temperatures can spell trouble for your precious memories.
  5. Matte and Frame: When you’re showing off your photos, think about matting and framing them. Matting puts a protective layer between your picture and the glass, which cuts down the risk of scratches. Framing also keeps your photos flat and safe.
  6. Back It Up Digitally: Make digital backups of your photos. That way, even if your physical copies take a hit, you can always print new ones. Cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive, plus external hard drives, are your pals for keeping digital copies safe and sound.

We’ve got a YouTube tutorial about getting rid of scratches in photos. I’ll share that video with you first.

If you’re into video tutorials, you can watch the one I’ve posted above.

But if you’re more of a reader like me, no worries! I’ll guide you step by step on how to remove scratches in PicsArt for free. So, let’s dive into it! 😊

Step 1 – Open the photo in PicsArt

The first thing we need to do is to open the photo in PicsArt.

Step 2 – Clone to Remove the Scratches in the Photo

Go to Tools > Clone.

Zoom in to increase the precision. Simply drag the photo outwards with two fingers to zoom in.

We’re going to change the Size and Harness of the Clone tool.

Tap on the “paintbrush” icon. Reduce the

  • Size to 24
  • Hardness to 23

How Clone Tool in App Works?

Before we start using the Clone tool to fix scratches, let me explain how it works.

Think of it as a tool that lets you copy one part of an image and paste it onto another part.

The Clone tool has two brushes: the Source and the Target.

First, you pick a Source point, which is where you’ll copy pixels from. Then, you paint over the Target point, which is where you want to fix something, like scratches.

When you paint, the Clone tool copies the Source point to the Target point.

For example, if we want to fix the scratch labeled “2” on the coat in the photo below, we can copy the unscratched part of the coat marked as “1” and apply it to the scratched area. It’s like using a magical copy-paste brush! 😊

Now, start doing it. Here’s a GIF for you.

Step 3 – Keep on Using Clone Tool to Remove All Scratches in Photos

This step takes a lot of time.

We have to repeat this step multiple times to get rid of all the scratches.

That’s why fixing old photos with digital tools can be expensive because it’s a time-consuming process.

AI tools can help, but they’re not flawless. When you print a photo in a 5×7″ or larger size, you might notice some distortions.

Once I fix the scratch on the coat, I’ll also take care of the one on the woods.

I’ll adjust the brush’s size and hardness. You can choose the settings that feel most comfortable to you.

Time to remove the scratches from the sky.

Now, I’m going to fine-tune the photo by removing all the visible scratches.

That’s all! You have removed the scratches successfully in your photo for free.

Before we show you, let me show you what info you can get from this tutorial.

What causes yellow teeth in photos?

Many times teeth appear yellower in photos than they actually are.

This is because of the light source.

When there’s enough light, teeth don’t appear that yellow. But when the light isn’t enough or the surrounding light has a yellow tone, your teeth are likely to look yellower than they actually are.

How to avoid yellow teeth in photos?

It’s easy to guess the answers as we already know what causes yellower teeth in photos.

  • Simply avoid taking photos when the surrounding light source is yellow.
  • Use camera flash during the night. It reduces the yellow tint in photos.

Is there an app to whiten teeth in photos?

Yes, there are many.

To whiten teeth in pics, we’re going to use a free app. We’re going to use PicsArt.

The obvious answer is that you have it.

The other reason is the light source. If the light is there just above you then your eyebags create harsh shadows on your cheeks. This makes eyebags look even bigger than they originally are.

How to avoid eye bags in photos?

You already know the answer as you’ve read what causes eye bags.

It’s not possible to completely hide them. But you can make them less visible.

Make sure that the light source is in front of you, not about you.

What causes eye bags?

I’m not a health expert.

There are tons of reasons. Some of the most common causes are:

  • Normal aging – As a person grows older, the skin around the eyes becomes thinner and may swell or droop.
  • Crying – The salt in tears may cause fluid retention in the eye area.
  • Sleep deprivation – Interrupted sleep cycles are common causes of eye puffiness.
  • Fluid retention – Many conditions (including pregnancy and hormonal variations with menstruation) can lead to the retention of fluid. These conditions can cause swelling around the eyes to be more prominent. (This cause can partly alleviated by raising the head of one’s bed.)
  • Diet – Too much dietary sodium encourages fluid retention and may lead to puffy eyes.
  • Alcohol and tobacco use – Alcohol and tobacco may lead to stress, fatigue, and hormonal changes; all of which may lead to fluid retention and swelling around the eyes.
  • Allergies – Allergic reactions can lead to leaks in the subcutaneous capillary beds which can cause swelling in the face, including around the eyes.

What are the ways to remove eye bags?

Wikipedia says that following these things will most likely remove your eye bags.

  • Elevating the head while sleeping can prevent the gravitational redistribution of fluid that is associated with eye swelling.
  • A low-carb diet can prevent eye puffiness by preventing water retention.
  • Eating foods rich in vitamins, especially A, C and E, helps to reduce eye puffiness and to maintain clear, moist skin.

Cost of surgeries to remove eye bags

I’m not a doctor. So, please consult with a doctor before proceeding.

I found one surgery on Healthline. It’s blepharoplasty.

It’s a cosmetic procedure that helps correct lose skin, excess fat, and wrinkles in the lower eye area.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of eyelid surgery is $3,026. This price can vary by region, the experience of the surgeon, and other factors.

If I were you, I wouldn’t use this surgery to remove my eye bags. Nutritious food and sleep would be good enough for me.

How to Remove Double Chin Fabulously in App for Free

Step 8 - remove double chin in photo

Is your double chin bothering you? Do you want to remove your double chin aka face fat or chin fat? Does your face fat look ugly to you?

Worry no more. I’m here for you. I’m going to show you how can you remove double chin in your photo fabulously. We’re going to use an app for it. Plus, removing double chin is totally free.

Before we show you, let me show you what info you can get from this tutorial.

What causes a double chin in photos?

The most obvious answer is that almost all of us have a double chin. You have it, I have it, and even my mom has it.

But we see more double chin in our photos than we see in the mirror. Why so?

  • When we take photos, we generally draw our heads back a bit. This causes a more double chin.
  • If we take photos from the upward angle, this also causes a double chin.

How to avoid double chin in photos?

It’s easy to guess the answers as we already know what causes face fat in photos.

  • When you are being photographed, don’t hold your chin in its everyday position. Draw your chin forward in a slight arc, as though you have a peach tucked under it. Renata gave this answer on Quora. And this method works.
  • Take photos from a downward angle.
