Best 7 Ways to Make Money Online Using Photography | TrickyPhotoshop

Photography is something that most of us likes. In fact, despite being an amateur photographer, most of us purchase costly DSLR to improve our skills and experience. What if I tell that you can earn a lot of money from that side hobby.

For the whole article, I am going to show you the Best 7 ways to make money online using photography.

Let’s start with the last

7: Write a Book

If you are really passionate about photography and you think you know a lot and want it to share with the world, probably writing a book would be the best thing for you.

Writing a book is not that much difficult as it seems to be. You just need a software to type (Microsoft Word or Pages would be the best one) and start writing. Once you are done withCover writing all the tips and tricks that you have learned as a photographer, your job is done.

Now all you need to do is to sign up with Amazon Kindle and publish your eBook with no hidden cost. Signing up takes no more than 5 minutes and getting approval takes up to 24 hours. So 24 hours after writing, your book is ready to sell.

In case you want to sell a print version, all you need to do is to sign up with createspace.com and upload your eBook there. That book will automatically be listed on Amazon.

My Judgment: You don’t need to write a 300 pages book which looks like a professional one. Nowadays, most people prefer a short book with around 100 pages which is filled with a lot of information.

6: Stock Photography

Most of the photographers are already doing this. There are many sites available where you can upload your images and sell them. The price per image can be as low as few cents but once you have a huge stock uploaded there with the good quality of images, you may earn more than $300 per day from those websites.

Some of those websites are

Adobe Stock
Shutterstock.com
istockphoto.com
fotolia.com
depositphotos.com

My Judgment: If you don’t have a portfolio of a large number of high-quality images, the earning per day may be quite low.

5: Sell the Prints

With the advancement in technologies, things have become much simpler nowadays. With the help of online services, you can just upload the images and suppose if someone buy those image, those services will take care of the shipping, printing etc.

Some of these websites are:

smugmug.com
photomerchant.com
zenfolio.com

For example, suppose you upload an image on smugmug.com. After a few days, a buyer purchases your image while browsing your portfolio. Now SmugMug will take care of the printing as well as shipping. All you need to take care is of the commission that you will earn per image.

My Judgment: If you are not a skillful photographer then there is always a chance of low sales. People prefer to buy prints of well-known photographers than amateur photographers.

4: Photo Retouching

You can sell photo retouching services on various websites. You can also work as a freelancer at odesk.com, freelancer.com etc.

In those websites, every day there are dozens of project or job requirements gets submitted there and all you need to do is to apply to those projects.

My Judgment: Usually these projects are time-consuming and you need to apply to these projects only when you have sufficient time and you can manage to complete the projects within the deadline.

3: Create Video Lectures

Nowadays, people prefer to watch videos rather than reading books and photography is something that would be easier to learn by watching videos.

So you can take advantage of this market requirement and create a series of video lectures. Being a photographer, I guess you already have a DSLR. So there is nothing to be done in terms of money. Use those DSLR cameras to record videos and create a series of videos.

Upload those videos to online video tutorial websites like Lynda.com, Udemy.com etc.

My Judgment: Creating video lectures can be a tedious task and you always need an assistant with you to record the videos and so on. Apart from these, you need to have a strong experience in photography.

2: Organize a Webinar

You can organize a paid webinar and publicize about it everywhere. All you need to do is to create a nice presentation and think about the ideas that you are going to share in the webinar.

If you are not a well known or skillful photographer, I suggest you keep your rate low (like $29 or something). However, if you think that you have a lot to share and your photography is amazing, you can charge them as high $99 or $199.

My Judgment: Make sure that you have practiced the things that you are going to say during the webinar because once you teach or say something wrong, people will have a wrong impression about you and probably they will not register for your next webinar.

1: Create a Photography Website

You can create your own website with your own personal domain with a little cost. If you are really tight on budgets, creating a new website (via WordPress) is as cheap as $20 per month.

You can either sell your images on that website or you can earn via ads shown on your website.

To get more visitors, you can start writing about photography tutorials, review of photography equipment, photography tip etc.

My Judgment: Creating a website is as simple as boiling eggs, all you need to do is to watch this YouTube video, but maintaining that website is really a difficult task. You need to dedicate a huge amount of time for the first 12 months and then you can limit yourself with 1-2 hours per day. But if you succeed in this, you may start to earn more than $200 per day and even much more than that.
